Rift looked rather blankly at the boy. Her face was rather expressionless, other than the hint of inexplicable sadness. She tilted her head slightly at him. He looked pretty young, yet his eyes didn't hold the same type of innocence most younger people had. It was rather odd. She nodded slowly though in response to his question. "I'm fine..." she muttered.

Company... she thought as he spoke. He was oddly chipper after having just punched a guy in the guts. "Rift..." she replied, offering her 'name' to him as a courteous act. She felt a sinking feeling in her chest, as though something bad had happened. Probably just her imagination though.

"Hey, look, I'm a good guy, you dont' have to blankly stare at me when your obviously hurt.", he said. "I swear on the moon in the sky that I won't tell anyone anything you tell me, but if you don't want to tell me, that's your choice, also Derek snuck around and he's in his new room if you want to go get him.", Jace said softly, giving her a very soft and light hug, and quickly released.

Rift was shocked a bit by the hug, standing there with her fingers extended at her sides. It seemed rather abrupt, and pretty dang awkward. She had no clue who the heck this guy was, but whoever he was...he knew Derek. She sighed a bit, looking to the ground.

"I...I don't think he wants to see me," she said quietly. She still didn't understand his behavior before, and still believed it to be her fault.

"Look, as Derek's brother he never knew about, I feel obligated to comfort you, if that bastard did anything, I'll fix it.", Jace said. His smile was much more genuine than Derek's ever could've been.

"Brother?" she repeated aloud. The phone, the text Derek got. Was this the brother the text was talking about then? "No...he didn't do anything wrong," she then said returning to her quiet demeanor. "How did...you know I was..." she started, trying to find the right words. How did Jace know about Rift and Derek?

"Well, he seems awefully upset about something, and I certainly know from what he told me, your the only person he's been talking to, he even told me he's through with everyone, only out to make others happy, while he loathes in selflessness.", Jace said. "I think he's trying to give me a reason to leave the mansion, and one of those unfortunate girls will become caught in his paw.", Jace stated.

Rift stood there for a moment, trying to wrap her head around what Jace was saying. Yet, some of the things just didn't make sense to her. "Wha..." she started whispily, fading out as she tried thinking harder. Caught in his paw? She wondered. She knew he was a werewolf, but did he have ulterior motives? Was he...using her? She looked up at Jace, a hint of worry in her eyes. "What do you mean by that..."

"He wants me to leave. I told him I wouldn't leave without because I just met him. We argued about it while Luna, a witch, was sleeping on Derek's bed. He took off, I got lemonade and made a dummy underneath my sheets. Then, I snuck out here, and decided to talk to you.", Jace said. "I think he's being selfless, and I hate it, he's hurt you and he's killing himself on the inside because of it, but yet wants you to move on, to me." Jace said, starting to tear up. "But I have an idea, you will date me, but we'll use that to get him out aswell.", Jace said.

Rift quickly pulled away from the boy, taking a few steps back. Her cold glare looked a bit off now, more harsh than usual. Was this his way of coming onto her?! She glared, her nose scrunching up a bit as she snarled at him. She figured he was trying to trick hr into dating him or something. "What makes you think I'd ever date you, even if it was just out of pity?" she growled out. It seemed she had a...dark side.

"Because, I know Derek loves you, and I'm guess you've felt the same, it's for him, unless you want to talk to the pup crying in his room.", Jace said quietly. He was emotionally hurt because of his brother's efforts.

Rift blushed furiously. She wasn't sure if she was embarrassed, or just angry. Derek had left her out there in the cold, snarling and growling at her as he left. "Who are you to assume such things?!" she shouted, closing her eyes before a tear could escape.

"I'm sorry, but he is a very deep person, he spilled everything to me.", Jace said. "He didnt' plan on telling you, and I argued it wasn't fair.", Jace said. "You can lash out at me all you want but I'm right.", Jace said.

Rift snarled again, eyes opening up and glaring sharply at Jace. She was looking for an outlet, and he was egging her on. "I'm not going to do something so degrading," she growled out. She wouldn't do it. She wouldn't date Jace, she still wanted Derek.

Jace felt hurt. "It would merely be a ruse, but I can see trying to explain to you I only wanted to be your friend was difficult.", Jace said, storming into the house.

A silver glint passed over Rift's eyes just before Jace turned away. It seemed her emotions were getting the best of her. After he was gone she felt dizzy and light headed. She took a few steps forward, staggering before she collapsed to the ground. She tried to lift herself up to her hands and knees, looking toward the door. Her eyes were glazed over, vision blurring. She reached her hand out for it, as though hoping it would come to her before collapsing in a heap. Her long white hair surrounded her unconscious body as she lay there, helpless to her own conditions.

Jace had come back out. He was kneeling beside Rift. "C'mon, wake up!", he pleaded as the hundering steps of Derek could be heard, then Jace vanished, layed up against the ground in fear, his arm bleeding. A black, sleek furred wolf nudged it's body against Rift's.

At the nudge, Rift's body rolled slightly onto her side. Her soft pale face was shown peeking through her mess of hair. Her blue and cyan eyes peeked open, hazily looking up at the large figure. Dark and ominous, looming over her. Her nightmare?! It didn't matter, as the most she could do was let out a weak grunt in attempt to speak. She tried lifting her head, but it simply fell back to the ground. She felt immensely weak, shifting her vision between the boy and the wolf. What happened to his arm? It didn't matter, as her eyes focused back onto the wolf. She stared into its eyes. So familiar...

Jace stood up as the wolf collasped beside Rift. "Hey, Rift...apparently..--", Jace started, getting cut off by a growling Derek. "Fine, you explain to her why you bit me.", Jace said.
The wolf seemed to pulled her head onto his warm, furry body.

That was it, his wolf form. That's why those eyes were so familiar. Rift's petite hand reached out from under her long hair for Derek. Her fingers ran through his fur, grabbing onto it as she had his hair before. She slowly rubbed her cheek against his fur, burying her face into it and letting out a sigh.

Jace looked at them. Derek seemed to try and nod. Jace came over and joined them, Derek growling, (Jace, your joining this, your my brother, and Rift, Im' sorry, your my girlfriend). Jace appeared touched. "Look, the toughie has learned love, just dont' chew my new pair of slippers."

Rift looked up to Jace who'd joined them. She still looked rather weak, but recovering rather quickly. She pulled her legs up a bit, curling them and blushing. She was still in that rather short miniskirt, and was worried that of all things, they'd seen something. It was a rather odd thing to worry about, but it was Rift. "A..are you alright?" she asked, looking up at both Derek and Jace.

Derek seemed to finally realise he hurt Jace. "I'm fine I'm fine!", the younger boy protested as the wolf insisted to check it out. He placed a paw gingerly on it, causing Jace to pull back in agony. "Okay, yeah, you bit me, your father tried that, it didn't work, no worry.", Jace said. Derek calmed down, and made sure they both layed on him. "Rift, he's fine, he's more worried abo--", Jeace said, recieving a tail in his mouth.

Rift smiled meekly as Derek lay back down, wrapping her arms around his thick fur coated neck. "You're so pretty like this, Derek..." she finally muttered, holding him close. She didn't know what had happened to her earlier, why she'd collapsed but right now it wasn't the first thing on her mind. After all, she'd been diagnosed with a multitude of sleeping disorders. She simply attributed it to one of them. She then glanced over to Jace. "So, you wont be a wolf then?" she asked, assuming that's what he meant about Derek's father.

"No, I'm immune, must've been something my parents cast, knowing I'd end up with the pup's family, I remember seeing Derek when I was younger, very vague.", Jace said. Derek seemed to quiet down, not growling at all. "Apparently, stressing out a werewolf results in the change, but he still isnt' controling it.", Jace said. Derek's muscles twitched.
